Help Needed! Mud Wars Cyclocross

Okay, Beechworth Chaingangers, we need your help!

On the weekend of 13/14th August, the BCG is hosting two rounds of the Vic Cyclocross Series at Lake Sambell Caravan Park. For this event to be successful, we need our members to do two things: volunteer and enter to race!

In case you are not familiar with the event, click here for more info

Firstly, we need volunteers to marshall. Each day will be separated into two shifts: 9.30am-12.00pm and 12.30pm-3.00pm. We require 4 people per shift. Your role will be to ensure everything is running smoothly in a sector of the course, notify the race director and commissaires of any problems and notify backmarkers of faster riders approaching.

Secondly, we require volunteers to help with registrations. This will essentially be a supporting role as AusCycling has taken on registrations. There are two shifts: 8.00 am-11.30 am and 11.30-2.00 pm.

And finally, we need two fun lovin’ people to run the kids’ race each day. We have decided this year to limit entries to kids with a maximum wheel size of 24″ to reduce carnage!

As gratitude for your help, you will receive one free race entry per day of volunteering. Plus, you will be filled with a warm fuzzy feeling in the knowledge you are helping your local club deliver a super fun event!

We also need our members to get out there and have a go at racing. If you have a CX bike, the usual A, B and C Grade categories exist for women and men. And if you don’t have a CX bike, no matter. The Open Category is open to all other bikes, be it gravel, hard tail MTB, dual suspension MTB or even Penny Farthing (okay, maybe not Penny Farthing). And don’t be put off by the lycra; you can wear what you want in the Open Category. In fact, there will be prizes (of the vinous variety) for the best get-up whilst racing. There will even be awesome tunes playing whilst you weave your way around the course.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact El Presidente Lynn: presidentbcg@gmail.com.

If you have any questions, please contact Adrian: adrian.rodda@gmail.com.

If you want to race, follow the links from the event page

We hope to see lots of you there at the event. Bring it!
